2018 FVSC Annual Banquet – Steak Fry

Whiting Boat House address is 98th Fifth St. in Neenah, WI 54956 (Behind Theda Clark Hospital next to the boat landing on the Fox River)

Presentation Title: Archaeological Analysis of Shipwrecks in the Fox River and Green Bay

Synopsis:

The bay of Green Bay and the Fox River are interconnected both geographically, as well as culturally.  Humans have traveled along these waterways for hundreds, even thousands of years.  This presentation will highlight some of the recent archaeological survey work conducted on several shipwrecks that have been found in these historic bodies of water.

Speaker Bio: Kevin M. Cullen

Kevin holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from UW-Madison and Master of Science degrees in Anthropology and Museum Studies from UW-Milwaukee.  He has over 15 years of experience conducting archaeological excavations, both on land and underwater, throughout the United States, as well as internationally in Ireland and India.

Currently, Kevin is the Deputy Director at the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay and is responsible for overseeing exhibition development and educational programming, including public archaeology.   In addition to his museum duties, Kevin is the president of the Wisconsin Underwater Archaeology Association and senior instructor for the Nautical Archaeology Society’s international training program.

Come join us for an afternoon of socializing, share you’re diving experiences, then enjoy some snacks while listening to the speaker and stay for dinner. There will be door prizes and guessing games too.

The main dishes will be provided: a big juicy steak, baked potato, mushrooms with onions and butter, coffee and soda. Members will bring dishes to pass to fill out the menu.

Please note the Whiting Boat House does not provide utensils and dishes. Each individual will need to bring your own plates, utensils and any other drinks you may like. Just think of it as going on a picnic and you’re bringing your picnic basket. There is an outside patio which has some picnic tables and lawn area space to enjoy.

5:00 pm Dinner,

5:30 – 6:00 pm Door prizes / Guessing games

The cost for non-members is $15.00 each and for FVSC members is $5.00 each. 

(Payable at the door, cash or check only) 

Please RSVP by March 14, 2018, (monthly meeting) so we can plan accordingly.
